Discover the location of all the diving spots proposed by the diving center « Les Heures Saines » located in Bouillante, Guadeloupe.

Des spots dans le Parc National, autour des Îlets Pigeon

 

"The Coral Garden"

This site is accessible to all divers from the first dive, and even for snorkeling. A no-sailing zone allows you to evolve above the coral reef in complete safety.

You will evolve between corals and various tropical species: hawksbill turtles, bigeye trevallies, ...
For experienced divers, head east from the boat's anchorage to the drop off where you can meet barracudas and kingfish.
On the way back, you will see a long strip of sand with the bust of Captain Cousteau on a 12-meter depth.

"The Barracuda Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water. The dive can take place with profiles up to 50 meters deep.

Experienced divers will be able to dive "a little deep", along the drop off, even if the 20 meters zone remains the ideal place to meet kingfish, barracudas, diodons, triggerfish, turtles...

"The Swimming Pool"

This site is accessible to all divers, starting from the first dive. A drop off takes us to a depth of 40 meters, where we can observe many species of sponges and corals, which are themselves the habitat of thousands of fish and other tropical animals.

At anchor, the sandy bottom makes this site an ideal place for training. A no-sailing zone allows you to evolve in complete safety, even while snorkeling. Moreover, numerous coral boulders scattered around will allow you to fully enjoy the underwater world.

"The sources" or "The Anticyclonic Buoy"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

The dive can take place with profiles up to 60 meters deep.

It is possible to be released from the boat a little bit off the site to enjoy a descent "in the blue" before joining the drop off and going up along the scenery towards a plateau at 12 meters depth, site of the anchorage.

"The Aquarium"

This site is accessible to all divers, from the baptism. The dive can take place with profiles up to 60 meters deep.

An ideal spot for explorations, the trip takes place over a gently sloping coral plateau, rich in life and colors.

"The Carangue Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water. The dive can take place with profiles up to 40 meters deep.

Between gorgonians and sponges, you will explore the very colorful coral plateau on a gentle slope from 12 to 22 meters, followed by a drop off up to 40 meters. During your exploration, you may meet groupers, trumpet fish, but also turtles, ...

Spots outside the Pigeon Islands but in the National Park

 

"Anse Negresse"

This site is accessible to all divers, from the first dive. The site is also well adapted to snorkeling.

Located on the coastline just behind the Japanese garden, this site offers the advantage of being well sheltered in case of wind, swell or current. Accessible from the first dive, it is shallow and allows to observe many species from the first meters of immersion. The place is well known for the gorgonian fans that cover the bottom, where many species have settled. It is not uncommon to observe the winged inhabitants of this peaceful bay; many pelicans live and hunt there.

"The Malendure Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

Located at the North of Malendure beach, it is a charming site without too much depth (max 18m), where you will navigate between different dry areas on a sandy bottom. Black gorgonians and azure sponges are scattered on the walls of the sponges, and the magic of this site makes it one of the most appreciated of the reserve.

"The Japanese Garden "

This site is accessible to all divers, starting from the baptism.

This site near the coast is well known by divers: at the beginning of a small dry area on a 12m depth, you will find an arch. Open your eyes, lobsters and other crustaceans will be watching you. Heading north, a drop-off will take you up to 20 meters, where you can observe all the biodiversity of our seabed.

La Caye plongée de nuit

"La Caye", by day and by night

This dive is accessible from level 1.

Shallow (max. 14m), it will allow you to enjoy a good hour of the colors given back by the headlights, without worrying about consumption or decompression.

Every Wednesday and Saturday night dives are offered on this site.

The meeting times vary little during the year: 5:30 pm in winter and 6:00 pm in summer.

Epave_Francjack_Les_Heures_Saines

Wreck of the "Franjack

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

This wreck lies at a depth of 23 meters. This boat was an hourglass of 50 meters long. Les Heures Saines voluntarily sank it in 1996, following the passage of the hurricane Hugo which had damaged it.

The descent and the ascent are done along the end. When you arrive on the after end, you will go around the hull with the propeller at 23 meters. Possibility to access the wheelhouse with a passage in the engine holds.

You can meet sponges, bryozoans, ascidians, anemones and shrimps...

Wreck of the « Gustavia »

This site is accessible from PE 40 (supervised diver to 40m) or Open Water and Deep Dive training.

The wreck lies on a sandy bottom at a maximum depth of 40 meters.

It is a 48 meters long cargo ship which was damaged by the hurricane Hugo. It was sunk by Dominique Déramé at the head of Les Heures Saines in 1991.

The descent and ascent are done along the end. It is placed right on the hull, on a sandy bottom. The ride can be done in a "spiral", starting from the bottom and returning to the highest point, thus allowing to have an overall view of the ship. Two beautiful French angelfish are waiting for you as well as a school of barracudas that will follow you during your dive.

"The Mahaut Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

Last point in the north of the National Park area, the site is located just before the entrance of the town of Pointe Noire. With a shallow depth (maximum 20m), it is to be discovered because it is rarely visited.

"The Lezarde Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

Last site in the south of the reserve, it is located just above the bay of Bouillante. Accessible from the PE12 diver, you will be able to enjoy the tranquility of the place. A ridge topped by small peaks offers the possibility to walk on a 12 meters deep bottom. Further on, a drop-off takes you to 40 meters where you can observe the incredible biodiversity of the reserve's bottom: it is common to observe turtles, lion fish, kingfish, which lead their daily life along the coast.

La Caye plongée de nuit

"The Thomas Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

Close to the hot springs of Thomas, 2 successive platforms are waiting for you: from 5 m to 17 m and another one from 18 m to 35 m.

"The Quecy Point"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

South of the village of Bouillante, this site with a maximum depth of 18 m, will allow you to enter a small cave, to make 2 passages under rock as well as to pass in a chimney (10 m - 7 m).

Wreck of the "Augustin Fresnel II"

This site is accessible from PE 40 (supervised diver to 40m) or Open Water and Deep Dive training. The wreck lies on a sandy bottom at a depth of 28 meters.

It is a former lighthouse and beacon boat. The boat was sunk in 2003.

The descent and the ascent are done along the end allowing to arrive on the front deck... You will be able to visit the outside of the boat, but also the inside by passing in the rooms, the kitchen, the dining room.

"Turtles"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

South of Turtles Cove, a slow and gradual ascent along a cay that will lead to a coral plateau up to 30m.

"Melle Rose"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

At the exit of Petite Anse, this site allows you to enjoy a soft immersion following a coral reef, to arrive then in a forest of gorgonians and to finish by following a rocky side. (max 18 m)

"Fort Delgrés"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

A drop-off at the foot of Fort Delgrés, which defends the sea front of the city of Basse Terre. After a sandy plateau a few meters from the beach, three drop offs follow each other from 10 to 60 meters.

"The 3 points"

This is one of the possible spots after the dive on Sec Pâté, on the way back to Malendure.

Accessible from PE 12, as its name indicates, three rocky outcrops diverge from the coast in a westerly direction over a length of about 40 meters to arrive on a sandy plateau. Between the sandy area and the coast, there is an area of rock covered with hanging fauna. A channel of about 6 meters wide separates two of the rocky outcrops over the 40 meters.

"The Lighthouse of Vieux Fort"

This site is accessible from Level 1 or Open Water.

At the foot of the Vieux Fort lighthouse, which marks the southernmost point of Basse Terre, a beautiful plateau with a gentle slope down to 20 meters and a succession of creeks with a pebbled bottom and rocks covered with sun anemones.

Plongée sur le Sec Pâté

"The Sec Pâté"

This site is accessible from the PE40 (40m supervised diver).

Mythical diving site on an underwater mountain where three pitons spaced about 50 meters apart go up to the surface at -17 m for the highest. Located in the Canal des Saintes, it is a dive in a magnificent landscape where everything is bigger: fish, turtles, sponges, gorgonians, ... But it is sometimes a difficult dive with often swell on the surface and current during the descent to reach the exploration area and on the return during the stop. The average depth of the explorations is between 30 and 40 m, on a 400 m mountain...
